Our Mission

911 calls and emergency situations can be traumatic for children. The Tranquility Project aims to provide bags filled with calming and distracting contents to local police and other first responders to give out to children on a 911 call scene. By distracting and calming down terrified children on a scene, first responders are able to focus on the emergency at hand, and the trauma for the child will be reduced.

Why is it important now?

Due to Covid-19, domestic violence cases have increased by about 200% in certain townships. 1/3 to 1/2 of domestic violence 911 calls involve children in some form, whether they are witnesses or victims. The Tranquility Project is needed more now than ever in order to support children in these trying times and make these 911 calls slightly less traumatic for them.

What is In the Bags?

Fidget toys, coloring books and pencils, a stuffed animal (and not a small one!), a stress ball, and other distracting and calming objects we have on hand.
